Every photo you see on Mavessia.com — from a bowl of soup to a plated dessert — comes from somewhere, and we believe you deserve to know where. This page explains how we source our images, how we credit photographers and artists whose work we use under license, and what to do if you believe your image appears here without proper permission.

Where Our Images Come From

Most of the photography on this site is produced specifically for Mavessia.com — shot in our own kitchens, styled for our own recipes, and edited by our team. When an image is original to us, it is not available for reuse elsewhere without written permission, which you can read more about in our Terms of Use.

In addition to original photography, we sometimes use:

  • Licensed stock photography purchased from reputable stock image libraries, used strictly within the terms of the license we hold.
  • Images provided under royalty-free or Creative Commons–style licenses, where attribution requirements (if any) are honored in the image caption or in a credit line on the page.
  • Images supplied directly by brands, partners, or contributors as part of a collaboration, used with their explicit consent.

We do not knowingly publish images that infringe on someone else's copyright, and we take reasonable care to verify licensing before an image goes live on the site.

Third-Party Attribution

When a license requires attribution, we credit the original creator either directly beneath the image, in the recipe notes, or in a general credit line at the bottom of the relevant post. If you notice an image that appears to be missing a required credit, please let us know and we will correct it promptly — this is almost always an oversight rather than an intentional omission.

Our editorial team follows the sourcing and fact-checking standards outlined in our Editorial Policy, and image sourcing is treated with the same seriousness as recipe testing and written content review.

Pinterest and Shared Graphics

Many of our recipe images are designed to be Pinterest-friendly and may be pinned, shared, or saved by readers. That's welcome — we love when people save our recipes. However, sharing an image on a platform like Pinterest is different from copying, downloading, and republishing it elsewhere as your own. For the specific rules around how our graphics may be shared and pinned, please see our Pinterest Disclaimer.

Can You Use Our Images?

We appreciate that people sometimes want to feature one of our recipes on their own blog, social page, or newsletter. As a general rule:

  • A single low-resolution image with a clear, linked credit back to the original recipe page on Mavessia.com is generally acceptable for editorial roundups or recipe features.
  • Downloading and republishing multiple images, using them in a way that suggests they are your own work, or removing our watermark or credit line is not permitted.
  • Using our images for commercial purposes — packaging, print products, paid advertising, or resale — requires our written permission.

If you're unsure whether your intended use falls within these guidelines, it's always faster and safer to ask first. Reach out through our Contact page or email us directly at [email protected] with a description of how and where you'd like to use the image.

Reporting a Missing or Incorrect Credit

We take attribution seriously, but with hundreds of images across categories like Appetizers, Breakfast, Soups, Salads, Mains, Sides, Desserts, and Drinks, occasional mistakes happen. If you are a photographer, illustrator, or rights holder and believe one of your images appears on Mavessia.com without the credit or license terms you require, please contact us with:

  • The exact URL of the page where the image appears.
  • Proof or a reasonable explanation of your ownership or rights to the image.
  • The credit line or license terms you'd like applied, or a request for removal.

We will review the request promptly and either add the correct attribution or remove the image, whichever you prefer. Our goal is always to resolve these matters quickly and in good faith.

Takedown Requests

If a correction isn't enough and you'd prefer the image be taken down entirely, we will honor legitimate takedown requests as quickly as our editorial team can process them. Please note that this page works alongside our broader Disclaimer, which covers the general limits of liability for content published on this site, and our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle any personal information submitted with a request.

Questions About Sourcing or Licensing

If you'd simply like more detail about where a specific image came from, or you're a brand interested in supplying imagery for a future feature, we're happy to talk. You can learn more about who we are on our About Us page, or send your question straight to [email protected]. We aim to respond to all image-related inquiries within a reasonable timeframe, and we appreciate your patience as our team works through requests alongside regular recipe publishing.
